When Carolyn began planning her wedding, there was never a doubt about the location. Having spent countless summers at The Beach Club in Rye, New Hampshire, she knew there was no better place to say “I do” than the oceanfront property that held so many memories. Once she discovered the club could be transformed into a wedding venue, it became the perfect choice.

With sweeping ocean views, a private beach, and a long, narrow pool deck, The Beach Club offered both charm and challenge, making it an exciting project for our team of experienced Seacoast wedding planners.

Creating a Seamless Tent Wedding on a Pool Deck

Transforming the pool deck into a reception space required strategic planning and creativity. The long, narrow layout meant we needed to carefully consider both tent style and guest count.

• Tent Size & Style: We evaluated several tent options to determine what would work best for the space. While a sailcloth tent offers visual appeal, the shape and structure of a frame tent allowed us to maximize usable space and accommodate the guest list without compromise.

• Clear Top Tent Decision: October weather in New England can be unpredictable, but it’s also the perfect time for a clear top tent; letting in natural light without the heat concerns of summer months.

Planning a Beach Wedding Ceremony on the New Hampshire Seacoast

Hosting a beach ceremony comes with beauty, and complexity. We planned around every detail, from tides to accessibility:

• Tide Chart Planning: We determined the tide schedule over a year in advance to set the ceremony time and build a smooth event timeline.

• Guest Accessibility: We made sure that guests of all mobility levels could comfortably reach the sandy ceremony site.

• Seaweed Surprise: On the wedding day, the tide brought in more seaweed than expected. Our team (and backups!) quickly grabbed rakes and cleared the beach—one of many reasons to hire a planner with a hands-on, all-in attitude.

Weather Backup Plans for a Coastal October Wedding

October weddings in New Hampshire are stunning, but come with risks, especially during hurricane season. For every tented wedding, we prepare multiple contingency plans for:

• Unseasonably cold temperatures

For Carolyn & Ryan’s day, we had Plans A, B, and C in place so that nothing could dampen the celebration. This type of proactive planning is essential for New England coastal weddings.
